Video Analysis and Interpretations - Week 7
We are Opposite Like That
- This video is focusing on how damaging we are to our environment.
- Music is the primary element with voice over to provide some context, however the imagery speaks louder. And it may be interesting to see how people may form their own opinions without the dialogue.
- Much of the video elements are overlayed with one another. Using long dissolving transitions to emphasize on how over time, we've been hurting our environment.
- What is supposed to be a frozen tundra, is slowly becoming a "jungle"
- The main motif here is within the title. Opposites attract one another shouldn't. So much of the melting of the icecaps could've been prevented.
An Artist Walks into a Bar
- This video was interesting, it was shorter from the previous, but even so the subject matter was clear and present.
- Sasamoto talks about the time where she was needed to put herself in control.
- The theme of this video is talking about controlling the uncontrollable, that is the main influence. Below are some factors mentioned, these are factors that we can't control, but sometimes we wish we did.
- Glass, and being able to form it.
- Death, stopping ourselves from becoming objects.
- Romance, we can't stop ourselves from loving people and things, but deep down we wish we do.
- Alcoholism, sometimes we think the occasional drink is fine. But we never realize the need and control it has on us, when we begin to see how much we depended on it.
