Video Analysis and Interpretations (Week 3)
Windows
- Can be two different stories.
- I played it once with sound
- And then once without sound
- The audio was quite funny, however, both the music and narration could be done without. I found beauty with the video without sound.
- The film focused on different shot sizes, from medium close ups and extreme closeups.
- I found it interesting that the film editor chose to either cut or fade from differing shots.
- The color wasn't much of a factor in this film, however, the color changed throughout the film because of the varying window compositions.
New York City
Capitalism & Lost Book Found
- Documentation and narration melded together to create this piece of work.
- My initial thoughts, was that I was instantly reminded of another artist that I studied few semesters ago. Charles Simmonds, whose work was dedicated to documenting the lives of inner city people. The sculptures gave voices to the voiceless.
- When filmming, sometimes our shots are always too focused on one thing. So I've learned from this video is to take into account things things we wouldn't.
- This filmmaker is doing what any documentary director, should do. I've learned and experienced that when we are biased towards our subjects, the subject matter changes, so it's always better to remain a unbiased perception of what we're filming.
- Finally, I've learned that capitalism affects an entire city, just not a certain section.
Island of Flowers
- This film is more than just about agriculture, but also the birth of the economy in countries like America and developing countries. A way of life.
- At first I thought the video would be entirely something else, but it teaches us how, money makes the world go round.
- The production of what comes after humans put into money, which is the production of waste and garbage.
- The main point of this short film is to inform the audience about how the world works. Providing..
- Narration
- Diegetic Sounds (music, sound effects)
- The imagery used supports the narrative
- What this film also shows the known realities of the world
- Freedom is we all universally understand. And at the same time it still has its variants.
