Video Analysis and Interpretations - Week 9
These are all videos from the filmmaker Lewis Klahr. First we start with their interview in their studio with Wexner Center.
Klahr talks about their passion, saying how they're not an animator, but a re-animator.
Talking about their work, they don't know how it relates to things in a verbal sense, however, they certainly relate to other themes like visualization, the ability to collage animate and juxtaposing is liberating not something they could do in found footage editing.
- When selecting sounds and music for their projects, they all allude to what we understand but at the same time we don't. Their work consists of experimenting and collecting objects.
All their projects discussed here, consists of clippings from books, magazines, print outs, and other pictorial elements.

The pieces are edited separately so Klahr can easily overlay one another or create transitions on. Even with this, the video is still most of the time, with maybe one or two cut outs moving. Honestly speaking, I don't understand the meaning behind this video, things just seem to happen as is. But it did teach me about stop motion and reconstructing composition that have some sort of theme. I do admit that it could be better without the sound, I believe it'll speak louder without it.
Pony Glass
There's a clearer theme with this film, which is about love. Not just about between two people, but the common elements that surrounds love. Infidelity, exploration, anger, sadness, confusion, attraction, sexuality etc.
The music makes sense for this short film. There was a lot visually explained to me, and the lyrics almost helps to provide dialogue for us.
I really like the color in this film the most, I don't know why but I just enjoyed the hints of red, orange, and overall the very summer-like color palette.
